As per Bhagwad Geeta; entire world is divided in three categories: Satvic, Rajasic and Tamasic. Most of the Gujarati believes that swaminarayan told them to not eat onion or garlic. Little know fact that it wasn’t swaminarayan who said it.It has been written in Ved, Puran and Geeta for ages to not eat onion or garlic. Continue to read to understand real Hinduism. Not only eating onion and garlic makes you Tamasic, but there are other things which can also make you tamasic. In Bhagavad Geeta, Chapter 14, Lord Krishna has given detailed explanation of three moods of nature.
In Hinduism, food has been categorized in three categories; Tamasic food, Rajasic food and Sattvic food.
Tamasic
Tamasic foods are those that have a sedative effect on the mind and body. In general, they are considered detrimental. According to yoga, these foods are to be avoided as they can cause mental dullness and physical numbness. However, in times of pain they are allowed to alleviate suffering. Examples include: meat of an animal, fish, the fertilized egg, onion, garlic, scallion, leek, chive, mushroom, alcoholic beverages, durian, blue cheese, eggplant, opium, and any food which has been kept overnight before consumption.
Rajasic
Rajasic foods are those that have a stimulating effect on the mind and body. They are considered to be neither beneficial nor harmful. These foods lead to aggressiveness and irritability, and are often obtained in a way that harms another organism. Examples include: caffeinated drinks (such as coffee, tea (both black and green), cola drinks, and energy drinks), brown or black chocolate, paan, ginkgo biloba, overly spicy food and salty food
Sattvic
Sattvic foods are those that lead to clarity of mind and physical health. These foods are to be consumed on a regular basis. Sattvic foods are generally those which can be obtained without harming either another organism or one’s self. Only Sattvic foods are acceptable as offerings to the Hindu gods, with rare exceptions. Examples include: water, cereal grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, unpasteurized and homogenized fresh milk and all fresh milk derivatives (mostly ghee, but also butter, cream, fresh or cottage cheese (paneer), and yogurt (lassi)), and raw honey.
How to identify the people with different moods
Tamasic People: Tamasic people are lazy and ignorant, they often take more than 6 hours of sleep. They enjoy talking negatives of people and not interested in learning anything new.
Rajasic People: Rajasic people are overly attached to their work, and they cannot stop working. Achievements in material worlds gives them pleasure. They’re very selfish and emotionless.
Saatvic People: Saatvic people are difficult to identify, cause they often mind their work, and happy with whatever situation they’re in. Saativ people are very humble and calm in nature.
As per Bhagwad Geeta, people should avoid Taamsic food as much as possible. Saatvic people are capable to reach eternal happiness. Once they reached eternal happiness, they’re free from Karma and go to ‘golok’ where Purn Purshottam Krishna resides.
Why are you so against Swaminarayan what did they ever do to you

“Furthermore, they are also tamasic because when they get together, all they do is talk sh** with each other, especially of people who are not swaminarayan followers. I have seen them talk very negative of individuals who are devotees of Lord Krishna! Plus they are never interested in learning the truth. Do they not know what offenses they are committing to the devotees and pure devotees (acaryas) of Lord Krishna, what to speak of Purna Purshottam Bhagavan Sri Krishna Himself.” – Jignesh you are contradicting yourself heavily here, when you state “they are also tamasic” you then resort to using a highly offensive word. Stop tarnishing the name of Krishna.

Instead of making your point, you’re spamming on my site. What do you want? Keep it straight, or I will have to remove it. Yes I’m biased and not your ideal person. Last time I will let you comment, make it worth!! If you think your swaminarayan is god, good prove it.

Why are you so into debating and negativity? I have seen your posts and you are spreading hate and negative energy. I’m not Swaminarayan nor do i care. But instead of wasting valuable human life on negative hate why not apply Hindu values on your own life and attain moksha? Why care what people do or follow. Be happy with your beliefs and if you are a genuine hindu devotee then worship your god. I’m really surprised at the amount of hate you have. I’m not saying Swaminarayan I right but what you are doing is spreading hate. Instead look inwards to your soul and strive for a life that lord Krishna teaches in bhagvad geeta. To many people want to correct others and debate. They can’t even spend one minute looking within and apply those same values to ones own self.

Excellent post! This is how one progresses in life, based on references from bonafide sastras given by pure devotees and the Supreme Lord Himself. To further your point, all swaminarayan people, which are 100% gujaratis are rajasic people and they strive for material pleasures on a daily minute-to-minute basis. Little do they know that everything will be taken away at death! Why not just live life to keep body and soul together! Or how about utilize the riches in service of the Supreme Owner, Lord Sri Krishna!
Furthermore, they are also tamasic because when they get together, all they do is talk sh** with each other, especially of people who are not swaminarayan followers. I have seen them talk very negative of individuals who are devotees of Lord Krishna! Plus they are never interested in learning the truth. Do they not know what offenses they are committing to the devotees and pure devotees (acaryas) of Lord Krishna, what to speak of Purna Purshottam Bhagavan Sri Krishna Himself.
Now baps fools consider bhadresh bava an acharya…and look at who his name is placed next to in the list…pure devotees of Lord Sri Krishna.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acharya
These pure devotees actually do not even know of swaminarayan because the name is not in sastras and there are millions of fake bhagavan’s made in India in the past and in the future.
Also, do a post on Tulasi Devi when you have some time. She is pure devotee of Lord Krishna. Not swaminarayan.

Thanks Jignesh. all these swaminarayan bavas are tamasic, I’m pretty sure they all take more than 6 hours of sleep and lazy. I have seen how their bava ask material things from their devotee. One day I heard baps follower talking to someone regarding their bava asking hot pepper for their meal from their devotee. These people are crazy.
